International CES (Consumer Electronics Show) has long been a mecca for lovers of the latest in technology. Top companies battle for the attention of a captive audience of tech consumers and reporters, geeks and gamers who flock to the Las Vegas venue to get a look at the latest innovative, barrier-breaking and downright outlandish products. Most products on show are still in development or pre-launch stage, giving tech lovers the chance to get the scoop on upcoming developments.
Control anything with Lobar Ring
The trend of wearable tech continues with the Lobar Ring, an innovative yet simple input device worn as a (quite chunky) ring, allowing you to control many devices around your home with simple gestures. Owners raised $880,000 last year in a highly publicised Kickstarter campaign. Send texts, set home appliances and pay your bills!
Changing your mind - Thync
Taking wearable tech to the nth degree is Thync, an oddly spelt and slightly sinister device that is worn on your earlobe, syncing with a handheld device which you control. Thync merges biology and technology to change your mental state (to either 'Calm' or 'Energetic' currently) chemically, using electrical impulses sent to your brain. Wearable drones
Move over, Selfie Sticks. Nixie is a wearable camera that clings to your wrist like a watch. Throw it away and it hovers close by, takes your photo and comes right back. This is very much still in testing mode, but created such a stir, it's now the product-that-nobody-asked-for-but-everyone-wants.
WonderWoof - connect with your dog
For the control freaks among us - when you can't be with your best friend, fear not. WonderWoof can update you via IM, on your dog's adventures during the day. The WonderWoof 'bow-tie' attaches to your dog's collar and transmits updates to your phone. Although I bet it doesn't stop your pooch devouring your expensive leather shoes when you're out. Painless parking for car users
Hate parallel parking? 'Semi-autonomous vehicles', 'Smart mobility', 'anti collision' technology, call it what you will, but cars of the future will be doing all the work, thank you very much. OK, so maybe not quite, but CES 2015 saw the announcement of some new technologies that will keep you in the correct lane, will stop your car before a collision happens, and can even take over and park your car for you - using sensors and other algorithms to recognise pedestrians and other pesky obstructions.
