We were commissioned by Irish Distillers to develop the new Jameson Whiskey website from a "mobile first" perspective. The key requirement was to ensure visitors on phone, tablet and desktop all received the best user experience possible. The site needed to be available in multiple languages and contain different content depending on region . Another important requirement was the "geo-targeted" age verification and Facebook login.
User eXperience (UX)
A lot of time was spent on developing the fluid responsive layout and it's something we are very proud about. The result is that visitors on each device receive a layout that is adapted to their needs. We believe that fast load times is a key component of any UX. Because the website features several large banners we built a system that delivered most suitable image for the device. A unique 'thumb jump' feature that runs along the right hand side of the page on mobile allows visitors to quickly navigate the long 1 one page design.
The website features a unique one page design. As you navigate, the page simply and elegantly 'scrolls' to the required location. What's special is that the page is constructed using individual 'panels' that stack differently depending on URL or Google search. This ensures that the most relevant content is placed at the top while at the same time retaining search engine rankings. The creation of a new language site is done by simply running a script that sets up the new folder ready for translating. Beautiful.
